HID Wins 2011 Texas Environmental Excellence Award in Agriculture
The Texas Environmental Excellence Awards celebrate the bold innovations that individuals, communities, businesses, and organizations develop to preserve and protect the Texas environment. Since 1993, the program has honored the most outstanding pollution prevention and waste reduction projects in the state. Its aim is to inspire other Texans to undertake similar projects to Take Care of Texas. Initiated by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality under a directive of the Texas Legislature, the Texas Environmental Excellence Awards highlight environmental achievements in up to nine categories. Winning projects take strides toward conserving and protecting the state's water, reducing its waste, or protecting the quality of its air. The awards honor a diverse sampling of individuals and organizations from across Texas who have made exceptional contributions, both locally and statewide. All award recipients share two things in common - they exemplify the Take Care of Texas spirit and they enhance the TCEQ's efforts to protect our state's human and natural resources while ensuring clean air, clean water, and the safe management of waste.
